Meet our moderator:

Peter Cowen

Managing Director @ Sutton Capital Partners, Inc.

Mr. Cowen brings extensive experience in offering M&A advisory services and capital-raising for technology companies. He specializes in software, digital media technology, scalable business services and SaaS/subscription companies.

Mr. Cowen has advised over 200 companies, served on over a dozen boards of directors, and has co-founded three companies that were successfully sold to public companies or strategic partners. Before creating Sutton Capital Partners, he was Managing Director at Clear Capital Advisors, Angeles Capital Group and GroundWork Equity.

Buck Jordan

Managing Partner, Canyon Creek Capital

Founder of the corporate venture studio “FUTURE” and the early stage venture fund “Canyon Creek Capital”, Buck is a technologist and early stage venture investor with a successful track record of building businesses at the leading edge of technology and in transformative high growth markets, such as robotics, digital media, and consumer products.  During his time as the Managing Partner of Canyon Creek Capital, he has lead investments in successful startups such as Gyft, Winc, Miso Robotics, ChowNow, Jukin Media and others. His operating expertise was honed during his time as a management consultant, working on Capitol Hill in Senator Arlen Spector’s office, and as an Army Blackhawk Pilot. 

 

Brian Horner

Vice President, Tech Coast Angeles - Los Angeles

Brian is an active angel investor and board advisor to several seed stage companies in LA.  He is the Vice President of Tech Coast Angels LA Chapter and is currently in charge of both their Accelerator and VC outreach programs.  In addition to angel investing, Brian is also an active real estate investor in LA and NY, and trades energy futures for a privately-held commodities hedge fund.  Prior joining TCA he spent 10 years in the investment banking industry in New York.   Brian received an MBA from UCLA Anderson in 2005.

Heidi Hubbeling is the Chief Operating Officer of the Preccelerator® and Director of Marketing for top Southern California business law firm Stubbs Alderton & Markiles.  The Santa Monica-based Preccelerator® Program, an accelerator program for early-stage startup companies, provides business setup, co-working space, networking, education, user testing, tactical fundraising help, mentorship and valuable perks to its participants.  Heidi’s experience in business go-to-market strategy, fundraising strategy, professional services marketing, relationship building, business development strategy and entrepreneurship spans 15 years.  

 

Asher Lieds

Angel Investor

Asher began his career practicing venture capital, securities, mergers & acquisitions and general corporate law through the dotcom boom after graduating from Georgetown University.  His clients ranged from start-ups, such as Scour.net (a company that was founded by, among others, Travis Kalanick-who went on to be the founder and CEO of Uber) and Ceiva, to Fortune 100 companies, such as IBM.  Asher also worked on the initial public offering for Shopping.com that was subsequently acquired by Compaq Computer Corp. within one year of it's IPO (one of the first internet IPO's) for approximately $1 Billion.  Since then, Asher has been an active angel investor in the startup community, with dozens of investments across a broad array of companies.
